Emi Koga, Director of Special Education
Emi’s background consists of work at the Administrative level where she was a statewide director of Student Services overseeing the departments of Special Education, Students with 504 plans, and English Language Learners at an Online Public Independent Study Charter. She also has experience as a Director and Program Developer for Federal initiatives in both the state of California and state of Hawaii working with a vast network of providers, in creating a system of care for at risk youth and students with disabilities collaborating with medical, educational and community based organizations. Her path to Special Education was as a related service provider where she has a clinical/social worker background have also spent many years being a direct service provider in the nonprofit and community based setting as well as school based setting. She has a soft spot for direct service staff as she can relate to the hard hours that direct service staff put in, in working with our most vulnerable populations.
Krista Mount, Director of Categorical Programs
Krista graduated from the University of California, Davis with a bachelor's degree in psychology with an emphasis in mathematics. She received her teaching credential from Saint Mary's College of California and spent eight years teaching at a brick-and-mortar elementary school before joining California Virtual Academy @ Sutter as a teacher during the 2005–2006 school year. Since then, she has served as lead teacher of middle school mathematics and as curriculum specialist for the California Virtual Academies. As director of categorical programs, she works to ensure that all students have the resources they need to reach their full academic potential.
